Looking for some motivational housework quotes to help get you revved up to get started on those dreaded cleaning chores?
There's plenty here -- even a few housework sayings that will make you chuckle.
But wait! Want to know a little secret about me... my loathing of housework and how I think I'm finally starting to grow up and be the girl my Mom can be proud of.
Up until recently ... when it comes to housekeeping ... I'd pretty much guarantee that I'd be almost on top of the list of 'The laziest women in the world'.
Well I was only cleaning my room once a year - on every December 31. And no I wasn't paying a house cleaner the rest of the time -- wish I had the funds to do it though! Nope - I was the daughter from h**l - leaving it all to my Mom.
Since I was small I seldom did housework. I used to think that "I only needed to focus on my study, obtain good results and that's it ... I don't have to do anything else". (Eesh, pretty self absorbed right!)
And what makes it worse is I kept this habit till now - when I'm an adult. My thinking remained "I just need to worry about my job. That's all." Until one day...
I was working on a project in my room and my Mom asked me to help her out in the kitchen. I immediately got miserable and cranky thinking to myself: "Why do you have to disturb me and ask me to do things that I hate?"
Okay I know, about now, every Mom out there wants to jump through the screen and throttle me ... but there is a happier ending coming -- promise... and it has been my study of motivational quotes and housework quotes that has helped me turn my thinking around!
The anger was my direct response but deep in my heart, I knew it was utterly wrong. I took a step back and started to rethink: "Hey, my Mom doesn't like to do housework either. Who in this world would take cleaning as a hobby? It's not her responsibility to do all the dirty work. But she keeps doing the house chores for so many years without any complaint."
"Because she loves us and wants to provide a clean, healthy environment for us".
"So, is it too much if I am asked to put my jobs aside and help in de-cluttering the house even if I dislike it?"
... Of course not!
After that incident?
I'm not going to lie to you and say that I do all the housework, ha - my Mom wishes -- but I'm getting better. Now I sweep the floor, wipe the tables, rearrange newspapers and hang the clothes. Petty, I know. But I'm on my way to contributing more in maintaining a clean, warm and loving house :)
So, if you happen to be like me and are lacking the motivation to do housework, here are a few reasons to get started and the benefits of keeping the house clean:
I hope at least one of these motivates you to pick up the broom. Or even better pick up a broom with a light heart! :D
So, read the famous housework quotes that I've prepared here, (and I hope you get a chuckle from the funny housework quotes too), get inspired and... After that, happy cleaning!
